Connections That Strengthen Our Community

As Executive Director of the Kenmore-Tonawanda Chamber of Commerce, I’m fortunate to attend events that showcase just how connected and supportive our community truly is. Three recent gatherings highlighted that spirit in unique ways each reminding me of the power of coming together, whether to give back, to network, or to learn.

First, I had the pleasure of attending Compeer Buffalo’s Annual Friendship in Golf Tournament, an inspiring event that brought people together to support an incredible mission. Compeer’s work promoting good mental health through friendship and a wide variety of services creates life-changing impact across Western New York. Compeer CEO Cheri Alvarez and her amazing team do an amazing job of making it more than just a day on the course; it was a celebration of community, generosity, and the power of human connection. Seeing so many individuals, businesses, and volunteers rally around Compeer reminded me that the foundation of strong mental health often starts with friendship and support.

Closer to home, the Ken-Ton Chamber and the Kenmore Business Association (KBA) recently hosted a happy hour for members at Jovi’s on Delaware Ave. It was a wonderful evening of networking, sharing ideas, and simply enjoying each other’s company. Events like this give our members the chance to make meaningful connections, strengthen partnerships, and build the kind of relationships that keep our business community thriving

I also had the opportunity to attend the Energy Forum presented by NOCO in partnership with the Amherst and Clarence Chambers. This event offered businesses valuable insights into how they can access incentives and rebates through the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA) and other state-funded programs. It was not only educational, but also an important reminder of the resources available to help businesses become more energy-efficient and cost-effective

Each of these experiences on the golf course, at a local happy hour, and in an energy forum reinforced the same message: when we gather with intention, whether to support a cause, connect with peers, or explore new opportunities, our community grows stronger.

The Chamber is proud to stand alongside organizations like Compeer Buffalo, partners like the KBA, and regional collaborators like NOCO, Clarence, and Amherst Chambers as we continue to build a vibrant, connected, and resilient Ken-Ton community.
